The Youth and Volunteer Department of PRCS PHQ intends to strengthen its volunteer network during the year 2023. To achieve the said objective, seminars for students of Colleges and Universities are being organized. In this regard, the first seminar was organized on “Pakistan Red Crescent Society and Volunteerism” at Government Graduate College for Women, Baghbanpura, Lahore on 30-01-2023 (Monday) followed by the second seminar at Govt. College Township, Lahore on 06-02-2023.
The students and faculty members of the College attended the seminar. The Principal of the College / Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Dogar was the Chief Guest at the Seminar.
Rao Zaka Ur Rehman/ Assistant Director of Youth and Volunteers, PRCS PHQ delivered a detailed presentation regarding the core functions of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society and the Role of students / Volunteers in the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
While addressing the participants.
Rao Zaka said that Volunteerism is a form of helping in which people actively seek out opportunities to assist others in need, make considerable and continuing struggles to assist, and sustain these struggles over extended periods. He apprised the audience that the Pakistan Red Crescent Society provides this opportunity to those who intend to serve their community. He highlighted that while rendering voluntary services at the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the students will be able to improve their confidence, develop emotional sustainability, and explore their interests.
He also drew the attention of the audience toward the free-of-cost courses/training being offered by Punjab Red Crescent Society. He emphasized the importance of learning lifesaving skills.
He underscored that PRCS is a Volunteer based network and volunteers are the backbone of PRCS.
At the end of the session, the Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society and encouraged the students to join Red Crescent Punjab as a volunteer.
A Volunteer Recruitment Drive was also organized to register the new volunteers of PRCS.
