On June 17, 2025, the Youth & Volunteer Department, PRCS Punjab Branch conducted an engaging session on Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Response as part of the ongoing Youth Development Boot Camp 2025 at Lady Emerson Hall, PHQ Punjab Branch. A total of 37 volunteers (10 males and 27 females) took part in this informative session.
The session was delivered by Mudassar Habib Jami, Y&V Officer Punjab, who introduced participants to essential concepts such as the definition of a disaster, disaster management, preparedness, and response. Volunteers were also familiarized with PRCS response system, including CDRT, DDRT, BDRT, and NDRT teams, and the organization’s vision to prepare communities for effective response and recovery.
The discussion emphasized the importance of preparedness in the disaster management cycle and the critical role volunteers play before, during, and after a disaster. Volunteers were also shown examples of PRCS real-life interventions in past disasters, helping them understand the impact and effectiveness of timely action.
To reinforce their learning, volunteers were divided into four groups and given practical exercises and poster-making tasks to demonstrate their understanding of the topics covered. The session successfully empowered participants with knowledge and inspiration to become active agents of change and support in crisis situations.
