Lahore – June 02, 2026: In observance of Global Heat Action Day, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Punjab Provincial Branch launched a dedicated Heatwave Relief Camp at Mall Road, Lahore, to support citizens affected by the ongoing extreme summer temperatures.
The initiative is aimed at providing immediate relief, active cooling facilities, and lifesaving awareness to vulnerable segments of the population during the prevailing heatwave conditions. The camp was established at one of Lahore’s busiest transit corridors to ensure maximum outreach and accessibility for the public.

On its first day, the camp received an overwhelming response from the community. Hundreds of daily wage laborers, traffic wardens, commuters, street vendors, motorcyclists, and other vulnerable individuals benefitted from the services being offered. Visitors were provided with cool drinking water, oral rehydration solutions, shaded resting areas, and information on heat-related illness prevention and emergency response measures.

Speaking on the occasion, PRCS Punjab officials emphasized the importance of community preparedness and preventive measures to reduce the health risks associated with extreme heat. They reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable populations through timely humanitarian interventions and public awareness campaigns.

The Heatwave Relief Camp reflects PRCS Punjab’s continued efforts to strengthen community resilience and promote public safety during climate-related emergencies. The initiative will continue to serve the public and raise awareness about heatwave preparedness and protection measures throughout the ongoing summer season.
