PRCS Punjab Launches Transgender Welfare Project to Provide Free Long-Term Healthcare

Lahore: Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Punjab Branch, in collaboration with Fountain House and Pak Red Crescent Teaching Hospital, has launched a dedicated Transgender Welfare Project aimed at providing comprehensive healthcare and support services to vulnerable transgender individuals.

The initiative follows the successful organization of a Free Medical Camp, during which more than 70 transgender individuals received medical screening and health assessments. Based on the findings, the most vulnerable and unaccompanied individuals, who are unable to afford medical treatment, have been identified for further support.

Starting next week, these beneficiaries will be admitted to a dedicated ward at Pak Red Crescent Teaching Hospital, where they will receive 100% free long-term care and treatment.

Under the project, beneficiaries will receive:

  • Free medical treatment and diagnostic services
  • Free medicines and laboratory tests
  • Three nutritious meals daily
  • Religious and moral education
  • Continuous care and support in a safe and dignified environment

Speaking about the initiative, PRCS Punjab reaffirmed its commitment to serving humanity without discrimination and ensuring that vulnerable communities have access to quality healthcare services.

Healthcare is a fundamental human right. Through this project, PRCS Punjab is taking a significant step towards protecting, treating, and uplifting marginalized transgender individuals, helping them live healthier and more dignified lives.
