As part of its ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and community resilience, the Youth & Volunteer Department of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Punjab Branch conducted an insightful awareness session on Disaster Management during the Youth Development Boot Camp 2025.
Held at Lady Emerson Hall, PHQ Punjab, the session aimed to equip young volunteers with essential knowledge of disaster management principles and practices. Mudassar Habib Jami, Youth & Volunteer Officer (Punjab), led the session, introducing participants to critical terminologies such as hazard, vulnerability, risk, disaster, capacities, response, relief, recovery, rehabilitation, reconstruction, prevention, mitigation, preparedness, and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
A total of 39 participants — including 10 males and 29 females — actively engaged in the session, which emphasized the importance of understanding and responding to disaster situations at all stages: before, during, and after an emergency.
To deepen their grasp of the subject matter, participants also engaged in interactive poster-making and practical tasks, allowing them to creatively express and reinforce their understanding of the concepts discussed.
By integrating both theoretical and practical learning, PRCS continues to foster a generation of well-informed, proactive youth ready to contribute meaningfully to disaster preparedness and community support across Pakistan.
