PRCS and Turkish Red Crescent Provide Relief to Flood Victims in Mandi Bahauddin

A joint team of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and Turkish Red Crescent Society carried out relief and medical activities in the flood-affected areas of District Mandi Bahauddin.

During the visit, Dr. Muhammad Iftikhar, Honorary Secretary PRCS and District Health Officer Mandi Bahauddin, set up a medical camp at Bahri village, where a large number of patients were examined and provided with essential medical assistance.

The team later visited Thatta Khan Muhammad and Kala Shadiyan villages, distributing ration packs containing daily-use grocery items and mineral water to flood-hit families.

An RFL (Restoring Family Links) Camp was also established by PRCS volunteer Mr. Jahanzeb, informing the community that any displaced or separated person could seek help from PRCS to reconnect with their loved ones.

These severely affected areas are located on the riverbed of the Chenab River, which overflowed with 1.1 million cusecs of water at Qadirabad Barrage. Floodwaters remain stagnant in several villages, leaving families vulnerable and in urgent need of support.

Immediate needs identified include:

  • Tents and shelter

  • Hygiene kits

  • Mosquito nets

  • Grocery and cereals

  • Medicines

In addition, reports of snake-bite cases have raised concerns, underlining the urgent requirement for medical aid and preventive measures. Humanitarian organizations have been urged to expand their support to address the pressing needs of the affected communities.
